I did it! A full year of blogging! Happy Anniversary to me!

This blog started out as a way to chronicle my journey to Madeline, my daughter connected by a read thread half way around the world in Vietnam. When I started this blog, she was still growing in her first Mother’s womb and a dream I couldn’t imagine coming true. The blog was a way to make the journey seem real. Prior to this journey, I had tried various blogs and family web pages but never kept them up to date more than a few days. In fact, since then I’ve started a few new blogs to wax chaotic about life outside the adoption process but really it was the journey to Addison that kept me motivated.

Back in January 2006, I was one of the very few Vietnam adoption bloggers. I spent my days obsessively checking Fo(u)rt Robinson, Mrs. Broccoli Guy, Persimmon & Pink and Around the World in 300 Days for updates of any kind. They could have posted a dozen times a day and it wouldn’t have been enough. Now I am amazed to see that there are at least 78 Vietnam Adoption blogs!!! Wow. I try to keep up with most of them but don’t often have time to post comments. I sure wish you all had been blogging a year ago!

What started out as a journey to Madeline soon turned into a journey to Addison. There are still other blogs out there that link to my blog under it’s original title. The story is classically simple. One day I woke up and realized that her name wasn’t Madeline at all. It was just am unknowing few days before we were to receive our referral.  It took us awhile to decide on a name but I was sure it was NOT Madeline.

Now that Addison is home, the journey feels like such a small part of our lives with Addison. This is crazy to me. We spent 10 months waiting to meet her and have only known her for 10 weeks! I was afraid I wouldn’t have anything more to say once she was here but I have more to say now than ever!
