On My Own Again
Today, bright and early (well - bright and early for ME), my hubster headed out of town to pursue the American Dream (a job interview), leaving me all alone to deal with my conflicting feelings toward being all alone.
This is usually when my kids take a trip to Stepford USA, because they love me very much and wish to make my life very easy. I reward them with Ding Dongs. Which, incidentally, I call King Dongs and I know I’m not the only one. We all win.
As soon as hubby walked out the door, Addy-Mai was all like “Hey! Look at me, Mama! Aren’t I cute?” and she scrambled over to the couch and laid her head on the blanket, popping up in 2 second increments to check to make sure I was oodling appropriately. She has since done this off and on all day because She Is So Very Cute and she likes to hear us say it. And then she was all like “Look Mama! I’m BIG!” as she crawled over to the stairs and started to climb them for the first time, her motivation being a pair of scissors which she proudly procured right before sitting back on her invisible stair extension called air*. And then she crawled over to the remote control, picked it up and started channel surfing, stopping long enough to decide if each channel was to her liking or not. Eventually she decided to record Animal Cops: Houston - clearly sending a message in the only way a preverbal child can (the message, of course, being “Let’s move to Houston”). Later, after showing off all the Skillz she refuses to share with Daddy, she ate more lunch than an adult, had a bottle and passed out effortlessly in my arms. Oh man, this parenting stuff is HARD WORK! haha.
Dalton has the Plague that is plaguing us all. But he’s all like “It’s cool Mom. I’m good. Just let me lay here and throw some food my way when you think of it and I’ll survive.” and Teegan was all “I’ll take care of the dogs for Dalton, Mom, don’t worry!” and Noah, of course, was like “Hey Mom PLEASE homeschool me! I LOVE to learn!”.
Of course they aren’t perfect. For instance, like a good Mother, I threw some cereal onto the floor for Addison to eat and then set the container down nearby. Strategic Error! I just needed to pee but in that time, she managed to get the cover off the container and spill all of its contents onto the carpet. My thoughts? Yay - now she will be occupied long enough to write an entire blog entry!
Historically tomorrow I will wake up sick, the kids will freak out and need Daddy NOW NOW NOW and all of this bliss will be a distant memory. But don’t think for a second I’m not enjoying it while it lasts!
* no she did not fall down the stairs really, I was right there to catch her and also remove the scissors from her hands before she could impale herself. Really.

This may be the cutest (and funniest) post ever! I took the Animal Planet recording as Look Ma! I’m going to be a vet! The moving definitely could work too!
