Happy Super Bowl

I hate football. It’s no secret. Plus my Super Bowl Party friends all moved away to Texas so no Super Bowl party for me this year. That didn’t stop me from stocking up on guacamole, chips, freetos, cheese dip, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. Any excuse for a junkfest.

So we watched the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. Does anyone else watch this? Gawd, what a decadent treat! Three full hours of fluffy playing puppies, how can you not watch? When that was over, I quickly retreated to the computer. I had important things like emails to respond to, eBay auctions to win and videos to upload. Plus snacks.

In case any of you are anxiously wondering….day 2 of The Single Life went about as expected. That means it did not go well. And I can tell you why. 5 am Need I say more? NO day will ever go well that starts at 5am. By the time Tony rolled through the door at 9:30pm, I had never been so happy to see another adult face in my life. I begged him to never leave again. It was pathetic. And plus I got to go to sleep which I love. I love sleep.

This weird thing happened while Tony was gone and I know it seemed like maybe I was kidding or at least exaggerating but I kid you not. That girl started performing and aged like 10 years during the 36 hours Tony was gone. Phone call updates to Daddy felt like the yearly Christmas Letter: “Addison is growing like crazy, she has learned to stand on her own without holding onto anything, she likes to play telephone now and pretend to talk and she loves exploring the stairs, she finally figured out how to put blocks and balls in their proper hole”. You’d think he was gone for the last six months. And then to add insult to injury, she was petrified of him when he first walked back through the door. After a 36 hour absence. Hence one might think it was a coincidence, riddle me this:

Today Tony left to go get his kids which takes about an hour. During that ONE HOUR - the only hour he has been gone in the last 48 hours - Addison decided to learn her first ‘baby sign’ - the sign for “more”. This particular sign is one that Tony works with her on far more than I do. She did it over and over and over and I even got it on video. The rest of the weekend? Nothing. At least she wasn’t afraid of him this time though!

Don’t know if you are familiar with signingtime.com, but it is the absolute best for teaching signs, the DVDs are so well done, and the songs are great and totally not annoying–my son probably has 100 signs from watching these…they are awesome! Congrats on the first sign!

LOL @ superbowl. Sorry hon I wish I could have watched with ya. I did sit here and think “dang my superbowl friends aren’t here”. I stayed home and read a book with the game muted (I kept it on for the commercials). I LOOOOVE football but I LOOOOVE college football and the Superbowl doesn’t do much for me. But the commercials do LOL.

Todd went to a friend’s house with Avery, Mason went to the neighbors house for a party, and I read and read and read :-)

      Missed you :-)

You have just perfectly summed up why I am so happy to be a stay-at-home mom… kids won’t wait for mom and dad to be there for all their new tricks!
I was totally not into the Superbowl this year - my son mentioned the dog thing but we didn’t watch it. Maybe next year…

I can relate although last year Super Bowl was a major major deal seeing as DH is a huge Steelers fan. But if it isn’t the Steelers, then we don’t watch football (thank God.)

Babies learning to sign… it is awesome! It saves us sanity with Rachel knowing some signs.

LOL! I am so eternally grateful to you. My kids have been chewing me out for missing the puppy bowl. Now they can wake up and see clips!

Yay on Addison doing all those fun things. She’ll do some for Tony, she’s just getting him back for leaving her for so long.

I am so happy that she did a sign. I plan on doing the sign language with Lucy as well. My nephew does it and it is adorable.
