We’re Here!

Oh the stories I have to tell! I got in Saturday night and Tony rolled in at noon today. It has been a crazy last few days.

We are here, we are Texans! It’s hard to believe and it sure doesn’t feel like Texas. It is absolutely beautiful beyond all imagination here (no offense to the rest of Texas, of which I have yet to see, but The Woodlands is so NOT Houston!!). I’ll post some pics as soon as I take them. Dalton’s already taken a bunch of photos of flowers and I’ll add those to flickr as soon as I get them off his camera, too.  I can’t even tell you what a literal breath of fresh air it is to be living amongst trees and nature and friendly people and sunshine and warmth. My kids have been outside constantly, Addison touched her first leaves and pulled out her first blade of grass. She is in LOVE with nature, totally mesmerized by it. And for the first time in years and years, they are counting down the minutes until their bikes and scooters are delivered so they can ride around and get authentic real live exercise.

I already love living so close to my dear friend, D, and her wonderful boys who rushed right over to meet my boys as they rolled up in the driveway today. They have been so good to us, delivering us supplies, snacks, cold beverages, meeting me at the door at night when I first rolled in from the airport. We are so lucky, so so lucky.

The house is still empty save what we brought in both cars but we have internet and cable, that’s all that matters, right?! haha. The animals (and by that I mean the actual 4-leggers, not the crazy kids) are all settling in. It was the funniest thing watching the dogs let loose in the new backyard. I swear they ran laps forEVER, so happy with their newfound freedom. no more leashes, no more waiting for a human to be willing to brave the sleet and cold and snow to take them potty. Life is Good in Canine World. Our kitty and turtles made the move unscathed as well.  The movers get here tomorrow and then the real fun begins. This house is a LOT different than our old house so it will be interesting trying to figure out what to do with everything. Again, pictures forthcoming.

Tomorrow the boys start their homeschooling co-op. I hope they love it. It will be a great way to make new friends for both them and I. Teegan is really excited, Dalton is ambivalent.

This post feels totally uninspired. I don’t have my own computer set up yet so I’ll save the fun stories and pictures for that. Thanks, again, for everyone’s thoughts and good wishes. This was definitely no easy or fun transition but you do what you have to do and now that we are here, we can’t imagine being anywhere else.  Well, I take that back. It isn’t Vietnam with its rich culture and religion and amazing scents and sights and sounds. It doesn’t feel like home the way Vietnam felt, but that isn’t a bad thing. Because do you know what it feels like? It feels like VACATION. Like being at a resort, where everything is so beautiful and you have all these amazing resources at your fingertips and there are children and families everywhere. It is unreal to me that people actually LIVE here ALL THE TIME and we don’t have to leave after a few weeks or stay in a hotel! haha.

And also? Tonight for dinner we are having PIZZA HUT! We haven’t had pizza hut in 18 months! Who knew pizza could EVER make me so happy!!!! It’s the little things, sometimes :-)

So look for pictures and more stories - the good, bad and ugly - by week’s end. You know, in between Grey’s Anatomy and American Idol :-P

Look! I’m reading your blog!! I still like seeing and talking to you IRL better:)

For the record, I stepped on a lego this am. It was a duplo that Miles so graciously left on my bathroom floor. Thankfully I didn’t step on it fully because I recognized that sensation and quickly pulled my foot away. The first time I stepped on a duplo is etched into my memory…Blake was about 1 and it left the biggest, purplest bruise right on the arch of my foot. OUCH! I never want to repeat that:)

Glad you’re happy here! Looking forward to many adventures together!
