Drowning in boxes but rewarded with food

We got our final shipment of stuff. It’s all here. Which means we are drowning in boxes. I can’t make the usual progress I usually do unpacking becuase of All. The. Paper. My goodness, the packers wrapped EVERYTHING. Yesterday I even unwrapped a small plastic container of cat treats. It took forever to unwrap it. Why did they wrap cat treats?!

I am trying to make progress but it is slow and painful. What I really need is a solid week of nothing but straight house unpacking. But I already promised the boys co-op and park day this week. There is just not enough hours in a day. Also, and I know this sounds entirely spoiled and juvenile, but it is SO NICE here and I want to be outside playing and chasing balls and hunting for snakes and lizards and drawing flowers. I don’t want to be stuck inside doing grown-up work. Blah. Phooey.

Yesterday we rewarded all of our hard work with a trip to the Lucky Cafe which is a local Vietnamese joint. Can I just say I LOVE having a ‘local Vietnamese joint’? And the Lucky Cafe isn’t the only one in town! In our old neighborhood, it was a good 1+ hours to get to a Vietnamese restaurant. Most of us ordered Pho and it was to DIE for. We have tons left and I drool at the thought of eating it. But Tony ordered something else - beef over rice - and when she brought it out I immediately recognized it as a dish that my ex-mother-in-law (who is Vietnamese) used to make practically daily. The smell alone was such a flash-back, it made me so happy but the taste….oh the taste! I thought I was in heaven! I was never able to find this particular dish in Vietnam, ironically, and I hadn’t had it for like 8 years prior to last night so it was a major major treat for me. I’m dying to go back today for an entire dish of my own.

Wow, talk about careful packing! I wouldn’t want to stay inside and unpack either. I’m horrible, once the sun comes out here (say, April) none of my housework gets done… I just make up “chores” to do outside. (y’know, like sitting on the front porch drinking tea and reading blogs…)

LOL!!! This weather makes us all kids again :-) I think it’s why Texans have one of the longest life expectancies (I have an article on this and I’ll send it to you LOL).
Your movers packed cat treats? ROTFL! Talk about covering their ass! I say, leave the boxes and enjoy the outdoors. It’s been pouring for a day and a half here so maybe it will rain and ya;ll can be stuck in the house :) Take your time unpacking, what’s the rush??? :-)
