I’m Watching You!

The other night, on a whim, I set up Google Analytics. I’ve heard the term tossed around but had no idea what it was so I figured what better way to figure it out than install it, right? Yeah, I walk on the wild side, I know. I’ve had some really weird traffic issues for awhile now and it has been concerning me (not to mention making my bandwidth all wonky).  I figured I’d better try to get to the bottom of what is going on since my webhost doesn’t seem interested. I’m just that ‘take the bull by the horns’ type of girl.

It’s pretty cool. Now I can see exactly who is coming to the site, when, from where and what pages they are accessing. I can see the google search terms they use to get to this site. Everything. Very snazzy. Google, your Gmail my suck arse, but your Analytics have not let me down.

So far I know that there are some people visiting my site that I would have never imagined. Isn’t that fun? Or weird? I vote for weird. My dear Hong Kong visitor - out yourself! Who are you? Those who visit my blog 6 or more times a day - please feel free to comment since you come by so often!

I’m also learning that the vast majority of people who come to my blog for the first time are coming for adoption info. I’ll try to post more of that from time to time. I am still very much interested in the topic of adoption and, particularly, ethics. I have not had time to keep abreast of some of the newer issues because of the move. So when I get settled (which, lets face it, may be in 2010 at this rate), I plan to read a bunch and catch back up on where thing stand in the adoption world. Right now I know enough to be dangerous. Never a good thing.

Otherwise the google hits are all over the place. Someone came here looking for funny drinking toasts which, haha, I’ve never given a drinking toast or even HEARD a drinking toast in my life. I’m just not that wild, sorry. Someone else hit this blog searching for info on Naartjie Vicki which is probably foreign to most of you. Naartjie is my favorite brand name and Vicki is my favorite line made by Naartjie. Someone has good taste, just like me! haha

So all of you should know that I know you are out there, I’m watching you and the least you can do is say hi! :-P

I am betting I know who it is from Hong Kong, but I’ll let her out herself.
Analytics…hmmm, perhaps the next time I need a bit of excitement in my life. Right now I have more excitement than I can handle!!!

    4. Brandi Says:

hehe…I am the Hong Konger. Jenn is right, she knows me (well, sort of), I am not a strange lurker!!

Haha — I’m originally from TX and know the Woodlands oh so well. Your car comment cracks me up! And your daughter is adorable. Now you know…I am still trying to figure out who in Switzerland keeps looking at mine!

What does that thing say about me? Nevermind, I don’t want to know LOL. I just comment and read, I don’t think I ever searched for something since I land here daily and know what’s here :-)

And psst…I am one who comes here 8 times a day LOL. I come in, re-read, and look at your pictures LOL. No, I am not a stalker. I just love you and miss you :-)

    6. Jane Says:

I come more than once sometimes to see if there are new comments. :-)

Windows Spaces, though sucky in other ways, gives me some of the info you’re getting from Analytics. It doesn’t show where the people are (like Hong Kong) but I love seeing the google and other search engine search terms that get them to my site. I do feel a big guilty when people are looking for a sperm donor and get my blog instead. LOL

Hey, can this tell you when I can’t see your blog? I know I’m computer stupid but this drives me nuts! I’ve tried the past couple days and today is the first time I’ve been able to pull it up.

I also had China visitors every single day?
I thought viewing blogs was illegal there?
