Manure

A neighbor laid manure in the garden.

I know all the benefits of this practice but damn, these people totally rained on my “smell of nature” parade. Every time I go outside for longer than a few seconds, I am overwhelmed by the smell of, well, sh*t. It is making me seriously ill. I want to smell wet grass and flowers blooming and pollen.

So how long, exactly, will this smell drift across the neighborhood and into my nostrils? I have visions of 100 degree summers with cooked dung enveloping my every sense.

And Noah, my sweet sensitive Noah, he is NONE TOO PLEASED.

How do people who live on farms survive?! :-)

Oh YICK! I cannot stand that smell. I don’t think it lasts long, the smell that is. Doesn’t it start to wane when it dries up? I could NEVER live on a farm. Poopy smell is my puke trigger. Smell poop, hork. It’s that simple. If my neighbor laid manure I would go puke on his front porch LOL.
But yes, manure is useful and natural. But who’s crap is it? Did they buy it? or did they recycle it? Ewwwwwwww LOLOLOL!
      I’m with Noah! P.U.!!!!!!!!

It will settle down. If they haven’t already they will till or turn it into their beds…the smell may flare up a bit then, but then will be gone for good. That is, at least, how we do it in Ohio. Not sure if a different growing season means different practice or not.
Smell is bad, but hopefully they will plan some awesome fruits and veggies to share with their new neighbors! The bounty outlasts the smell by far.

Oh. YUCK!!! Hopefully either the smell will dissapate (sp?) or your nose will get used to it and you won’t notice it anymore? (Not sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing…)

Ah the sweet smell of spring! LOL. We smell that a lot out here in the country, I think all the farms use it and they spray a watery version all over the crops too - that really stinks up the air. But it seems like it only lasts a couple of days. Hope your air is back to smelling fresh and clean soon. :-)

HAHA that’s people spreading MULCH here. Yep, mulch! Here’s what we do. We don’t want manure smelling mulch so we buy the kind that’s organic and just shredded trees. I know of a company that sells it by the yard but when we were just adding it to our beds we used the bagged kind from Lowe’s. ugh, we can ALWAYS tell when the neighbors are getting mulch. YUCK!
