First Dip in the Pool

Today we ‘opened’ our pool. The water was actually *too warm* so we have to adjust it for the next few days so it is more refreshing and less like a warm bath. Crazy. Now that it’s nighttime, the temps are dropping and the whirlpool would be GREAT right about now but I’m too chicken. The backyard scares me at night!

Addison LOVED the pool. She kicked and floated and splashed and played and had a total ball. She was never scared or hesitant like she is in the bathtub (to put it mildly).

The rest of the kids had a great time too. I am pretty sure this will be the new haunting grounds for my kids for the next few weeks.

We threw the dogs in several times to ’shock’ them and try to encourage them to swim to the stairs. This wasn’t as mean as it sounds. They were never shocked, they can both swim quite well. They just don’t love the water. My dog in question - the one who keeps falling in - kept coming back for more so he may come around and become a ‘pool dog’ yet. We did not have great success with the stairs-teaching. They are still just swimming to the wall and hanging there. We’ll keep working at it.

Finding this house with the pool was the very best decision we made. We are going to get MAJOR use out of it, like daily. Maybe I can even, gasp, exercise in it!!!
