An Old Friend Visits

An old friend has been visiting lately. The visit has been a beautiful thing for us and we have invited this old friend to move in for *permanent*.

Meet my friend: Sleep

After many sleepless nights, crappy half hour naps and binge-waking, Addy is finally sleeping. Good. I know it may end but for now? Pure bliss.

She takes a 2 hour nap every day and can I just say I think it has been 9 years since I’ve had a baby who would take a 2 hour nap. My babies are notoriously horrible nappers and also notoriously needy sleepers - they need LOTS of naps but can’t take them without constant mama-contact. Not so with Miss Addy-Mai who will now sleep in her crib for 2 hours a day. BINGO!

And nights are following suit. She goes to sleep at 8pm like clockwork and is now slowly phasing out her need for nighttime bottles just in time for her first birthday. Two nights in a row she has slept 5 or more hours without needing a bottle. The other night she slept EIGHT hours without a bottle which I think qualifies as ’sleeping through the night’ if one were inclined to judge these things. :) This, my friends, is VERY good news.

Sleep: you are hereby officially invited to take up permanent residence in our home. We love you, you love us. Please stay.

In other visitor news, my three step-kids are flying in TONIGHT for their spring break vacation. We are ridiculously excited. But what we aren’t excited about is the weather they are bringing with them: 50 and rainy? I did not sign up for this, people!!! It is just miserable outside. But it won’t last. Just long enough to ruin our Easter plans but we’re an industrious bunch, we’ll just turn up the pool heater and dive in anyway! :-)

Happy Easter and Passover to all those who celebrate! I hope your holiday is as wonderful as ours is this year. We are truly blessed.

Oh my goodness, my kids are finally starting to sleep. I will not blog about as I fear it may ruin the actual act of them sleeping.
They are mostly only getting up for 1 bottle a night now, 4 nights in a row and then sleeping til 7!!! They also nap but like you said, It is a battle of rocking and crib and rocking and crib several times a day with two kids, it is rough but they are better because of it.

I am soo glad Addy is getting there. And I can’t believe that 1 is right here. Soon my girls will be one…Bring on the milk and cram this formula!

I am so glad that she has been sleeping better. I, like Jenny, have decided to never blog about Lucy’s sleep again, because as soon as I do, she stops sleeping well. I pray that is not the case for Miss Addy. I think she is on a role. I really can’t believe how much she was getting up in the night for bottles.
