Addy Heads To The Beach
Woo! Water! Here I come!Originally uploaded by sixmonkeyjungle.
Today we took Addy and the gang to the beach for the first time. It was a beautiful day in Galveston, I think it hit 80 and was so incredibly sunny. I’ve never seen such blue sky! It would have been hot if not for the breeze. It has been about 20 years since I’ve been to any beach outside the Great Lakes and I forgot about the wind. It was a welcome friend, however.
I had no idea the gulf of Mexico was so warm! It was totally swimmable. Like for adults, not even just crazy kids who will swim when it is 44 degrees on Easter! haha. It was really very nice.
Addy LOVED the beach, she loved the sand and did not try to eat it once which I consider to be a huge victory! She loved the waves and the water. She doesn’t mind getting her face wet or going under, we do that a lot in the pool. But she doesn’t quite have her ocean legs yet. At one point, while I was proudly video taping her playing in the waves, she got caught up in a wave and flopped onto her back. Of course instead of stopping the camera, I just yelled for Tony. I’m Mom of the Year for sure! If I didn’t feel so guilty, I’d post the video! haha.
After that she was about done with the beach. She refused to let go of her towel for the rest of the visit.
The rest of the kids had a blast playing out in the waves, body surfing, finding shells, drawing and building in the sand, chasing the birds and spotting their first pelicans. We capped off the day with a stop at a local diner for some seafood, of course. Yum.
The ocean is so good for the soul, even if it’s “just” the Gulf! I wonder if this will ever stop feeling like a vacation?!?! Pinch me!
You can view all the beach pics here, if you wish.

I LOVE Galveston! I’ve been there a few times since my brother lives outside of College Station. Looks like everyone had a great time. Beats Michigan weather, doesn’t it?

80 degrees in April?!?! I’m so jealous! Living close to the beach is awesome isn’t it?
I’m so sad you guys aren’t going to Ohio! Any hope you’ll change your minds?

Bwahaha! I have never been to the ocean beach with a child under 2 years that didn’t need to be straight-armed out of the wash at least once per visit! It just keeps your momma instincts strong! She is a doll, Nicki. And she will get over her tumble into the waves just like all my boys have. In time.

Wow, I’m jealous! We were at the beach (St. Augustine, FL) in March, but it was too cold to swim. Jackson, like Addy, LOVES the sand but didn’t eat it:)
