Today, for my birthday, I hit up a BOGO sale….

When we moved, I promised Teegan that we’d buy him a kitten. He’s not the kind of kid who asks for anything, ever. In fact he didn’t even ask for the kitten. I offered, he thought about it and hasn’t stopped thinking. So finally yesterday we went to the local Animal Shelter and I fell in love with this 9 month old kitten with the most perfect disposition EVER who oddly looks identical to our cat, Smokey. But Teegan fell in love with this tiny little newborn kitten who also looks pretty similar to our cat but with a touch of Russian Blue (my favorite cat breed) with the blue eyes and everything. We compromised. Which means we returned today and brought home both! They do not belong to us yet, they are on lease :-) We still have to get them both fixed and then they will be adoptable and ours!

Ok really I wanted them all. I am a total cat person. So I offered to foster. And then suddenly I was being asked questions like “We have a cat who abandoned a huge litter of kittens HERE last night, can you take them?” hahahaha. Thankfully another mama cat adopted the liter becuase I probably would have said yes and that probably would have been a bad thing becuase Nicki Doesn’t Do Night-Waking. I told my boys they’d have to take shifts with me. This has always been something I’ve wanted to do (bottle-raising a littler of animals) but the timing…well….sucks. Meanwhile I’m on board for more fostering of kittens and puppies in the future. We’ve done this for years in the past but took a hiatus when we moved to hell our last house. It feels like I’m crawling back into my own skin to be doing this again.

Also I wasn’t kidding about the BOGO. It is common here but totally offensive to my sensibilities. So for the record, we were totally in love with both and committed before we even found out it was BOGO.

 Without further ado………….

I love kitties sooooo much! See how happy I am?

I'm so happy, I must kiss the kitty!
I’m so happy, I must kiss Sticky!

And play with the kitty
And play with Anna!

And kiss this kitty too
And kiss Anna, too!

I'm not so happy
I’m Smokey, I lived here first. You might notice a resemblance between me and the intruders. I don’t think it’s cute. Or funny. I’m offended. Go away intruders. You are not cute, you are not as handsome as I am. Harrumph.

This kitty needs to go
This kitty needs to go. I’m going to growl and hiss and growl some more.

awwwwwwww… I love kittens! Happy Birthday! What a great gift to get yourself, two little fuzzy balls of cuddles! I would love to foster a litter of kittens or puppies… someday, when I’m not so overwhelmed by the clutter that is my life. Maybe after the kids move out? ;-)

Those are some purdy little kitties! I wish I could have cats but I am anaphylactic (which means I will never step foot in your house LOL).
I am glad the kidlets are loving them!!! Addy is drop dead gorgeous!
I want to foster dogs but I can’t because I would never let any of them go and I would end up with 10 dogs :-)

      Love you
