Things I Love

I don’t benefit in any way by endorsing these things, I just love ‘em so I’m sharing the love.

Frances England - Fascinating CreaturesI absolutely love this CD, Fascinating Creatures. I first heard it on the website of a local photographer and fell in love with the music while Addy’s bopped along to it. I had to order the whole CD and guess what? The rest of the songs are just as good. She is sort of a folky singer with great catchy lyrics that I never get sick of. No syrupy-sweet Barney style music here. My complaint? Not long enough. I hope Frances England has more great music up her sleeve -and soon! I can’t get enough! If you go to her website, you can listen to bits of all 13 tracks and how cool is that? My favorite song is Daddy-O.

If You Lived Here I devoured this book in a day. Because HELLO!? Vietnam! Adoption! Culture! Drama! Plus it was very well researched and well written. I am not Vietnamese so I have no idea how realistic Sachs‘ portrayal is of the various issues of coming to America from Vietnam and then back again are. I found the depth and sincerity of her writing made me flip to the back to see if the author was, herself, Vietnamese. She isn’t. Which impresses me even more. I also thought the ending was just perfect. I love a book where all the loose strings aren’t neatly tied.

Plateau Products These shoes are made in the foothills of Tibet out of soft, natural chemical-free sheepskin. They are super incredibly soft and durable. They withstand heat, water and lots of use. They don’t come in different colors because then they wouldn’t be so soft, natural and chemical-free! But they do come in a huge variety of styles and with appliques. Plus the Plateau shoe people do the coolest thing where they offer some appliques on upside down so the child can see them all day long. They look a little goofy but until you have a 2 year old who won’t wear his shoes because the upside down dump truck is “wrong”, you have no idea what a blessing this is! Plus also they are SUPER cheap and a portion of the procedes of each sale goes to charity.

I’ll definitely have to check out the CD. My Petunia loves music! Also, the shoes are seriously cute. I’ll have to pop on over to the website and take a peek. Thanks for the recommendations.
