Dallas, Here We Come!

Tomorrow bright and early we are heading up to Dallas. Other than driving through in order to get out of Texas, I’ve never actually been to Dallas (or anywhere else in Texas other than our little city) and I’m excited to expand our horizons. We’ll spend the next few days exploring all the museums and the aquarium and all the other cool stuff to do. Except probably not the Cowgirl Museum, sorry. If it wasn’t like 150 degrees in Dallas, I’d hit some geocaches too but it’s 150 degrees in Dallas. And rainy. Bummer.

Speaking of that, I don’t really get it. How can it be 150 degrees and rainy in Dallas and just a few hours south it’s in the low 90’s and sunny? That is weird to me.

Thanks to all who posted about my new blog look. I really love it - it makes me happy when I visit which is sayin’ something! I’ll work on some links and resources for others who want to work on changing their own blogs since a lot of you asked about that. I will say that Wordpress templates are just plain ugly and unavailable. Those of you using Blogger definitely have the advantage in this department. I *heart* Wordpress but this is one area that I have been disappointed. I don’t know anything about Typepad and I know just a little about the new Blogger (as opposed to the Old Blogger that I used and modified frequently Back In The Day [aka 2006] ) but I have heard it is easier, there are a lot of resources, etc. So have hope!

So anyway, we are off. This will be our last little hurrah before the “school year” starts. Then it will be soccersoccersoccer and gymnasticsgymnasticsgymnastics every weekend until we want to jump off the cliff!

My way more geekier friends have all had to work with PHP to get their WP blogs to look fresh and inviting. There seems to be fewer off the shelf hacks available.

Don’t you see a Wordpress Dashboard when you log into your admin panel? There are new WordPress Themes and Plugins released almost every day! The Dashboard links them from this site: http://weblogtoolscollection.com/

Hrmp. I’m on your way from Houston to Dallas, and you didn’t even stop in to say “Hi!” I’m so offended. (Ok, not really.)

Seriously, we’re up here a bit longer if you ever want to stop in.

150 degrees? And you’re going there by choice? Ugh, hope the sky clears and it cools off a bit for you guys. I love aquariums…plus, they’re indoors, usually with A/C! I don’t know what’s happened to me - grew up in hotter-than-hell S. Florida, but can’t tolerate over 85 degrees anymore! And somehow, our kid is from hotter than hotter-than-hell S. Vietnam and absolutely can’t tolerate over 80 degrees without losing half his body weight in water and panting like a puppy. Seriously.

      “The” cliff? There’s a cliff? OMG! Thre’s a cliff! :D

BTW, I’m pretty sure I have WordPress on daisiesnroses, don’t I? And there are some pretty cool templates there. ;)
