Killing Me
This morning while reading bloglines, I clicked on my daily weather like usual in an apparently more optimistic mood than usual and this is what I saw:
For a second I read the daily lows as the daily highs and almost fell off my chair in happiness! Then I realized my mistake and I just wanted to cry. As difficult as Michigan winters are, dealing with this unrelenting heat (which incidentally is now officially HOTTER than Hanoi is currently!!!) is K.I.L.L.I.N.G. me. I need cool brisk weather. I need sweatshirts. This weekend we’re going to a pool party for goodness sake! It just does not end, does it? I’m beginning to believe the heat will never subside.
And now we are getting rain and folks, let me tell you, there is nothing worse than a rainy hot October. This week my kids got more mosquito bites than all of September combined. That really blows, big time! I’m done with mosquitoes. I’m done with bathing suits and sunscreen. I want AUTUMN, dammit.
Could someone please send me some changing leaves in the mail? At least I can live vicariously.
Everyone says it is worth it for the extremely long beautiful second-half-of-the-year but when the heck does it begin?! Because it doesn’t seem likely any time soon.

I totally feel your pain! We live in Phoenix and it’s 83 today, 92 tomorrow.
Hang in there! Maybe hubby needs to order you some more cider donuts!

I feel your pain. This is exactly how I felt the first year I lived in New Orleans after living my entire life “up North”. Christmas will be even weirder, sorry. Hang in there!

Don’t panic, the good stuff is coming. It is running very late though and I am pretty ticked off as well. Your weather is different than mine. We dont have any humidity unless it’s about to rain. It’s hot today in the sun but the skies are crystal clear and it’s super breezy. In the shade it’s gorgeous. I just sat outside in the shade and read half a book and was so comfy. I am ready for fall/winter as well.
Right now I am just loving morning and night and staying in during the day unless I am in shade. Before ya know it, you’ll be loving winter!

Girl, we are under a tornado watch right now…highs in the mid 80’s and I am over it too….I do love the fall so come on already!!

If it is any comfort, in my part of the country we had a dry spell in the summer and it really dampened the fall colors around here. At least so far, we really haven’t had much of a show yet.
I’d wish you some crip autum weather, but honestly if you were getting crisp autumn weather, I’d likely be freezing. So lets here it for an odd mix of weather so we both get our way!

Feelin’ it in San Antonio too! Sitting in my place with the A/C on fanning myself because I’m starting to sweat! Bring on the cold!!!

After some pretty nasty storms yesterday, it has finally cooled off a bit here in Arkansas. It’s actually a beautiful day today-just not mid October weather! This has been the strangest fall! The leaves haven’t even started to change yet, irises are blooming again, and my tomatos and zuccini (which did NOTHING all summer) are covered in blooms. But I’ll take the nice weather while it lasts, and maybe I’ll get some vegetables out of it! I’ll wish a bit of our good weather your way!

Wow, those are some hot temps for October! We have normal 60 degree temps with constant rain. UGH. Our autumn leaves are wet and muddy.

Oh, I am so with you. It has been a long 10 years in Florida–at least I am far enough North now to use the fireplace in the winter–but I have never stopped missing fall.

I’m with Jenn. There are some nice colors but nothing like it should be due to a drought. It’s been so dry in my part of Virginia that the river near here that folks have told stories of rafting on has grass growing in it in places! No lie!
I wish you some cool weather and me some rain!

Count Tennessee in as also having unusually warm temps for October. Our fall foliage is going to be non-existent because of our excessively dry summer, too. Bummer.
Although it’s been 9 years since I lived in South Louisiana, I remember the hot, humid temps very, very well. I remember wearing warm-weather clothing for most Thanksgivings and some Christmases. I don’t miss that at all! You do get used to it, though, if that’s any consolation.

we’d sort of been having a rainy hot october too, don’t feel bad!

Ok, I’m trying really hard to work up some sympathy… mmmh… nope, not working… it’s sooooo dark outside right now and HAILING and that’s after a huge windstorm and dark clouds and rain all day yesterday. And last week when it hit 62 it felt like stinkin’ summer because it’s been so wet and chilly here for weeks. I’d take a week of your weather, anytime!! (Sorry, but in a way does it make you feel better?
)
