Like A Weed

I wrote on her 18 month update that Addy is growing so crazy-fast. All the clothes I bought for her this summer in anticipation of fall are too small. When I did her 16 month update, she was 2 inches shorter, 3 lbs lighter, at least a half foot size smaller and had half as many teeth.

In retrospect, no wonder she had a rough few months with sleep! That is a LOT of growing in just 2 months. On a whim, I looked it up and learned that she completed a full year’s worth of average growth for a toddler in just two months. Ouch.

Yesterday we made the realization that her growth has been almost exclusively in her legs. She used to have these tiny midget legs. She could wear teeny-tiny pants (6 months) and the waist and length would be just fine but she was growing out of her 12-18 month shirts. Now, suddenly she is just long everywhere. The 12 month pants are too short and too tight. Her shoes are too tight. Her shirts are too short. Even her underwear are getting too small and she’s only worn them a month! Oddly she hasn’t really been eating any more than usual. Crazy.

I really hope this growth pattern tapers off. My pocketbook can’t keep up and it can’t feel good to be growing so fast.

And on a totally opposite note, I would like to buy Addy a pedal bike. I think she may have the coordination to actually pedal. All our current little tricycles are still too far for her newly-long-but-not-quite-long-enough legs to reach the pedals. Even our adjustable seat bikes don’t come close enough. Is there a tricycle or little pedal bike out there that has pedals closer than usual? There has to be an option for little ones or petite kids with short legs, right?

Also weigh in on the Cozy Coupe - friend or useless waist of garage space? I’ve never owned one, believe it or not, and am considering getting one of these too.

LOVED the cozy coupe! We got Alex a tiny bike at Target for his 2nd bday. It had little people on it. Can’t find it, but here’s some: http://www.target.com/b/ref=sc_iw_r_2_0/601-4440287-5264149?node=16259291

We like our cozy coupe. Carter doesn’t really use it anymore, but Skye loved it all summer. We had to put it away today (snif, snif), but in TX you shouldn’t have that problem ;)
Yikes Addy and the growing! Should really taper off now, you just hit a big one! Is she just in regular underware, does she up and down them herself? Ok, maybe this conversation can happen via email ;)

Cozy coupe–worth its weight in gold–L. still loves the thing.

Bike–I think the new thing is a bike with no pedals, so they get the balance idea first–don’t have time to explain it well–will try to find a link.

Wow! That IS a lot of growing in a short period of time. Bless her heart! I guess there’s still hope for Petunia, although I do hope she takes a little more time than 2 months for that kind of growing.

My nieces and nephews LOVED the Cozy Coupe and played with it forever. I bought Petunia the Cozy Convertible as one of her Christmas presents. I just thought the girl needed something a little more sporty than a coupe. LOL. Check it out!

We are a home school family of 4 also. We have always home schooled and it is great sometimes, not so much other times.

It is wonderful you little one is catching up in growth. It must be great to see her thrive.

I found you through the randomizer. Come for a visit sometime.

The Kettler trike although a bit pricey, has a fully adjustable seat that can fit a tiny toddler to a big kid. It also has a lock on the steering wheel and a removable handle so you can push without them steering when you’re trying to get somewhere a bit faster.

Cozy Coupe — my kids have all loved it. It’s been more of a climbing toy than a ride on toy at Chez E., and currently it is used primarily for mixing dirt and water to make mud (in the “trunk” space). I got ours at a garage sale about 9 years ago and, though faded now, it’s still in great condition. They last forever.

That’s a LOT of growing! My girls were teeny tiny from birth until now…last year at 2yo’s they were wearing 9-12-18 month pants and shirts. This fall…3Ts are kind of getting a bit short! They’ve finally caught up with the “average” for their age!

The Cozy Coupe…HUGE hit here in our crazy house! I have a 4yo and 2 (almost) 3yo’s…and we have 2 of them. We’ve had them for 2 years and we’ve gotten TONS of use out of them! We bought both of ours used for about half cost and would recommend trying that as they hold up SO well!

I know nothing of this cozy coup business, but one bikes…Jackson will be getting a Like a Bike for his 2nd bday! It’s the coolest thing out there and I can’t wait until he can ride one - no pedals. http://www.likeabikeusa.com/?gclid=CPHE5LLNxo8CFQS0IgodLh_qQw
Kids FLY on these things and it’s awesome for coordination. There’s a knock off version sold at Target too I think.
