If I ever see another craft again…..

…it will be too soon!

FandangoThis weekend was the long-anticipated Children’s Festival. Ever since my dear friend D~ moved here several years ago she has been talking up this event, encouraging me to fly down JUST for this weekend. Now that we live here, we have been looking forward to it for weeks. If there is one thing we’ve learned it is that our little city knows how to put on an event!!!!!

ssssssweetSo we spent two full days enjoying booth after booth of crafts, freebies, give-aways, contests and promotions. If I ever see another craft again, it will be too soon. Noah LOVES a good craft. He had to stop at every.single.booth and take his sweet old time completing his masterpieces. Eventually Dalton & Teegan of the “Too cool to do crafts” set relented out of what was probably sheer boredom and I think they had fun too.

Highlights of the weekend:

  • Noah jammed out to Barney Live, whom I hate. But seeing him so happy almost made me tear up a little.
  • Addy joined in at the Kindermusik sample class. The girl loves her Kindermusik.
  • Dalton got to hold a 9 year old boa constrictor
  • The kids all got to make slime
  • We found an awesome local Japanese class and club that my older boys will LOVE!
  • Noah's IdolAddy jammed to some amazing Indian music.
  • Teegan made a Fandango hand puppet
  • Noah collected probably 12 different stuffed animals and made about 2 dozen craft projects.
  • Dalton & Teegan focused on collecting candy and rubber bracelets and created slime.
  • Dalton won about 10 chicken sandwiches from various fast food joints. Yum.
  • Addy got to pose with a ballerina from Nutcracker and Noah posed with his favorite mascot from the Houston Rockets.

And really that was just the tip of the iceberg. It was a full two days, for sure. I’m beat. I think I walked 750 miles and brought home 50 lbs of “stuff” - all for the low low price of FREE (thanks to free tickets available around our area)! But if anyone is ever in the Houston area around this time next year the Children’s Festival can not be beat!

To the beat

Ya know I was going to high tail it out there this weekend. But my van has bald tires, 3 different brake lights (dash) that wont shut off, and there is a scary Effin rattle in my engine LOL. I decided not to risk it. Todd took his keys. I stayed home and I am pretty bummed.
Glad everyone had fun! The walking part scares me LOL. At least ya’ll had good weather!!!

I want to go next year!! Sounds like so much fun. Hmmmm…. maybe Petunia and I can go visit my parents in Baton Rouge, then take a short flight to Houston… maybe my best friend and her girls will want to go too. Something to think about. That would just be a hoot watching the kids have a blast!

The craft event at least looked like it was well done, anything we ever went too was not worth it. Now my kids are past that stage, and sometimes I miss that. Now they want to do things liek welding with daddy and woodburning.
