Oh no you didn’t!

So when my husband put his foot down on the seemingly endless kitty destruction and demanded that I take our newly adopted cats in to have them declawed, I sat down to do the research and ended up crying. I’m a cat person. I can’t declaw my cats. It’s totally inhumane. I *have* in the past, it has not gone well. Now that I know better, I will do better.

So I researched alternatives and found these things called SoftClaws or SoftPaws. They are basically rubber covers that slide over the kitty claws. They glue on and fall off with the naturally shedding of the claw in 6-8 weeks. They take about a minute or two to prepare and then another minute to apply all 10 to kitty. Easy-peasy. It helps if your cat will let you touch him! But our kitten is a beast and it is still no big deal.

Added bonus? I get to change colors with the seasons! My boys, of course, are mortified. They are already signing little Sticky Bubblegum up for intense therapy. But I think they are just adorable. They are my first official holiday decoration for the season!

Christmas Soft Claws/Paws

They don’t bug my cats at all, they don’t mind them a bit. It hasn’t slowed them down in the least.  I buy all of mine through this seller on ebay. I don’t get any free decorative paw goodness for referring you there or anything but they are super fast, super cheap and really reliable. I love them!

However when it is time to change colors, they don’t come off either. You have to wait for the natural shed which is why poor kitty is sporting only half-a-paw of colorful Christmas cheer!

PS Before this, they wore orange and black, alternating nails, for Halloween. Serious.

Whoa - I didn’t know such a thing existed. I can’t imagine managing to get those on my cats but I suppose once you get through it the first time the next is probably no biggie. That is just blowing my mind!

I’m so glad you did that-rubber tips. My husband is a vet and says de-clawing an animal is the same as someone cutting off your finger at the joint….horrible!

ROFLOL… “painted” nails… you are the only person I know who would coordinate cat claw covers with the season. :)

OMG I am speechless! I am having flashbacks to the dog dressing days and the mocking is sooooo hard to hold in LOL.
BUT…I thnk that is a great idea! I never heard of it. And only Noodle would coordinate based on upcoming holiday LOLOLOL.

I love you to pieces! way to think it out and prevent a de-clawing! Ouch that HAS to hurt them (the de-clawing I mean)

Aren’t softpaws awesome? You have to have very good cats, though. Our orange cat was hell on wheels trying to get them on him, and then he’d chew them off. :x

Good for you! I am not really a cat fan. I have however witnessed firsthand on more than one occassion the process of declawing, and it is completely inhumane.

After reading your post and seeing pictures of your cool cat, I headed over to Ebay to get some soft paws of my own! We have three cats and I can never seem to keep up with trimming their claws. I had no idea there was another (humane) option. Toby, Lillian, and Millicent thank you=)

Oh my! What a beautiful cat! I have always wanted an all gray cat, so I am jealous. That said, I do love my black cat to bits!

LOL! That is precious! David wants to do it to our cats, but our kitties need to climb trees. So he asked that I paint HIS nails like that for Christmas. HA! Dh is gonna have a cow!
