Best Dog Ever

This is my dog Lilo:

Who me?

After having a rough time with our two little dogs (who were both rescues), I swore off more dogs forever. Until about six months ago when I started really wanting a dog. Not just any dog but a companion dog. Dec 539A BIG dog. A Golden Retriever. A dog who would keep me company when my husband is at work, out of town or watching football :) A dog who would be a friend and a part of our family.

I looked and I looked. I answered ads but most people wanted to home their dog with the first person that answered their ad and that was never me. Close, but not me. I contacted breeders about retired show dogs, I checked out rescues but they would not adopt out to people who have small children. I even considered The Dreaded Puppy.

Dec 546About a month ago I answered yet another ad posted locally from a family looking to rehome their dog before a big cross-country move. I answered. I was not the first one. I asked a BUNCH of questions, the owner answered them really thoroughly. I could tell she was being very forthcoming and had been a really amazing home to this dog. But I was not first. We talked so more and she said she’d let me know if the first guy fell through.

I didn’t hear back but I didn’t forget. I bugged her, I sort of dropped hints to Tony that I found a dog prospect. I kept on her for several weeks. Finally I think I pestered her enough that she relented out of desperation!! The first guy in line wasn’t responsive so Lilo was ours! We waited another two weeks and she brought Lilo to us. It was love at first lick :)

Lilo has been the dream dog ever since. She is why they say Dog is Man’s Best Friend. She is excellent, fun, loving and totally low maintenance. All she wants is to hang out with us all day long. She loves our dogs, she loves our cats, she loves our kids, she loves us. Lilo is my new BFF! I can only hope we will be as good for her as she is for us.

awwwww… she’s beautiful. And great job on finding such a good dog. I’m afraid I’m not patient enough to get a perfect dog… we love our mutt puppy dixie but puppies are such a pain and she needs some serious training!

Yay I’m so happy Lilo has a great home! I miss her but I’m glad she ended up with your family. Great pictures! And I’m glad she seems to like your cats! That was my only worry!
