Be still my heart
I mentioned in another post that I really wanted this tea set for Addy even though it was *crazy* expensive. I justified that it would be heirloom quality and would be passed down to her own children and her children’s children. It is metal, so unbreakable. And we almost ended up with two when my poor Dad bought the same thing, working from an outdated Christmas list I forgot to update. Thankfully he told me about it in enough time for him to effectively stop the order since it was non-returnable!
What could be worth all this hassle?

Well its only been 10 or so days but I believe it has already paid for itself in adorable memories. Addy LOVES her teaset.
The really crazy thing is how ingrained such things are to Addison. We have never played tea party but she knew exactly what to do. She puts the little tea cup in the little saucer and carries it around to serve to whoever is nearby and then asks “want more?” and refills us from the teapot. I know there are supposed to be more, well, fundamental and non-material reasons for hoping for a daughter other than to share tea parties (in fact I shared my fair share of tea with my boys over the years) but watching my girl share tea, blowing imaginary hot stuff to cool it down, carefully pouring cream and sugar….well it makes me happy.
For sure, pretend tea parties are not the only thing going on with the tea set. She also uses the spoons to eat her real food and often puts tiny morsels of real snacks on her plates and in her cup.
The other day Addy pushed a chair over to the refrigerator, got herself a cup and filled it with water from our fridge dispenser. Then she carefully carried it out to her little table where Teegan had set up her tea set all fancy-like, and proceeded to pour “tea” into her pot and cups. The mess…..oh the mess! But you know I just couldn’t stop her! It was so precious! Of course that mean old Daddy stepped in and locked the water dispenser so that game ended but damn was it cute while it lasted.

That is so sweet. Lucy got a teaset from my sister for Christmas too. She somehow knew what to do with it without me showing her. I wonder how they know these things. Will you send me the link to your set? I would like to look into some day getting one for Lucy. How do you know about all of these cool toys?

Hey, I also wanted to ask about that green chair-toy-thingy I see in the background of the photo — I saw one in a store and was intrigued, but didn’t buy it. Does she like it?
