Like Susan said, I think it's so admirable that you encourage your kids to think for themselves, even if their thoughts are not "in line" with your own. That'a an incredible parenting skill that I hope to develop. My husband was not allowed to express a single thought that contradicted those of his parents. My parents, esp. my mom, were like you.
