Random Addy-Mai

Addy-Mai is a study in language. She is very very serious about it. She spends hours (would that make me seem like a negligent parent?) in front of the tv repeating, word for word, every single phrase and word she hears like she’s studying for the SATs. It doesn’t matter if its English or Chinese (her current favorite, thank you Kai Lan) or Spanish. If she hears it, she works HARD on it and learns it and uses it later.  She also repeats everything we say and everything she hears. Not like a 1 year old parrot so much as a 2 year old sponge. Today we were at the store and she screamed out “Noah Bradley” but i swear I have NO idea where she learned THAT! :)

{this is one of my favorite pictures of Miss Mai}

Addy-Mai calls herself Addy-Mai even though we refer to her as Addison, Addy or a WIDE variety of nicknames. She refers to herself in the third person about half the time (possessive) and calls herself “I” the rest.

Addy still nurses and will continue until she weans herself, just like my boys. Our nursing relationship, as I’m sure you might expect, is much different than that with my biological children. Today she started saying “nursie”, unprompted (I don’t use that term) which made me cry! I soooo appreciate the little things that probably annoyed me with my older kids.

{look how long her hair is getting!}

Higher, faster, deeper. Addy-Mai is a dare devil as long as she’s in the arms of a parent. Roller coasters, this summer, should be interesting. But I am *obsessively* worried about our pool since we can not walk past it without Addy saying “I swim! I swim!” and, well, she can’t swim. There will be lessons this summer, for sure.
the Addy Special
{the addy special}
all by herself

As much as she loves high thrill, she HATES loud noises. Thunderstorms, flushing toilets, the vacuum cleaner. It all makes her crazy. She is also newly freaked out to the nth degree by the talking germs on Yo Gabba Gabba. Everything about Yo Gabba Gabba freaks me out so I don’t blame her.

{this dress was too big and bugged her ALL day! poor thing. she finally stripped down naked right in the middle of the park! haha}

My girl is a bully! She isn’t as bad as some kids but she will randomly walk up to her brothers and kick them, or pinch them in the car or bop any one of us over the head and say “Pwnd”  (leetspeak courtesy of her big brothers).  Noah got foam swords for his birthday and Addy LOVES to fight with them. She is one tough cookie. But she will just as quickly turn around and kiss you all better, tell you she is sorry and ask if you are ok. Sometimes she will hit you just to give herself the opportunity to ask if you are ok and offer up kisses. She already knows how to mess with people: watch out boys!

This girl can close her eyes, on command (the command being “GO TO SLEEP ALREADY!!” or something thereabouts) and keep them that way for a VERY long time. She is driven and patient, both!

My girl has some good hair now! It is long enough and thick enough to pull back and braid or put in a pony tail or any number of different styles. Soooo much fun! I love how it hangs when it is fresh out of the bath, she has such gorgeous hair! But my very favorite Addy ‘do is when her Daddy does her piggies for Gymnastics. He does the BEST pigtails ever!

Addy-Mai looooves to talk on the phone. If anyone gets a phone call, she insists on talking. If she can’t talk, she asks to hold the phone FOR YOU while YOU talk. Such a crack-up, that girl. She does a fairly good job on the phone for a 1 year old!

Addy-Mai has a connection to her big sister in Michigan even though she has not seen her in her too many months to count. She frequently points to pictures of Paige and tells anyone who will listen that it is Paige - she recognizes her on sight. She likes to talk to her on the phone, too (go figure!).

She’s got all the teeth she is going to get until her 2 year molars, finally! Whew! That was a rough road.

      Addy cracks me up! She is a big girl in a little girl’s body. I can’t believe all that she can do, and she’s not even two yet. That is impressive how she is soaking up all the language. My oldest would repeat words several times, and then use it in a sentence.
      I never taught him to do this. He was an early talker and used adverbs and verbs correctly from early on.

      I love her dress. She is so cute!
