The Fifth Good

My hero, my friend, Laurie had her baby this morning. They say its a girl but I just don’t buy it. It can’t be. I was SURE it was a boy.  That girl is blessed beyond reason to be born into a house full of the most amazing big brothers. The rest of the world is blessed beyond reason to have her as a part of it. Aside from my utter shock, I am feeling an enormous amount of excitement and joy that Laurie will have a daughter to follow in her most amazing footsteps. She is an incredible role-model for any female - I want to be her when I grow up!

Laurie endured 4 days of labor, naturally, like some sort of super-human warrior.  I can’t wait to read the story but I know that naughty baby girl just flipped her parents the bird and stayed put despite more super-human measures to bribe and coerce her out the way she went in. I bet it is the first sign of this little one’s personality! I can’t even imagine 4 days of non-stop labor. There is no way I would have survived such a thing. But this is the lady who kept running a marathon through the loss of her toe-nails - I think she could survive anything.

Please go wish Laurie, Travis and the Fifth Good (name yet to be announced but I’m pretty sure it is going to be Bob) congratulations and happy Babymoon! If you have trouble accessing her site or it loads slowly, hit refresh and wait it out. It will be worth it!

I think the entire blogging world sighed all at once when they finally updated to announce Baby Girl’s big arrival. I’m really proud of her too. I already think the baby looks like Travis. What a little bitty package of cute. But yeah I too suspect that this one will have things her way in her own time. I’ve gotten so accustom to stalking her blog in the past few days, I don’t know what to do now!

Ha ha - I think at this stage ‘Bob’ is too tame a name for such a little tyke that could ‘flip her parents the bird’ (loved that btw) for 4 days and then still need to be plucked out :) I could think of a few slightly more choice names that I would have started calling her after day 2 of labour - but then that’s just me :) I too kept checking her blog and comments to see what was up - in fact I”m off to check now and see if there are any pictures!! (Sometimes my rss feeder is just too slow!)

I called Melissa 3 times at work asking her for updates on Laurie yesterday! I’m with you though….I was SURE it was going to be a boy….I can’t wait for new pictures!!

I hear ya on the running through with your toenails falling off. That is one of the main reasons I will never run another marathon. She sounds like a truly amazing woman, and if this birth experience is any indication of her baby’s temperment, she’ll need the stamina! OTOH, maybe this will be the toughest stuff her new daughter throws at her. :-) Congratulations to the whole family!!!
