poor Lilo! i will never own a pit but my best friend has a rott and a pitt. we took both to the dog park here in socal and didn't take them off the leash. they were super happy and friendly until the huskies from hell showed up. the HUSKY came and started attacking my friend's pit while the owners just sat there doing NOTHING! she had to kick the husky off, yell at the owners and then we left. we will not be going back to the DP any time soon with those dogs. on the other hand i have been there before with a happy mix of goldens, labs, and other mellow dogs running around and it was lots of fun.

Hahah - for the record I told Tony last night that i would never condone the drop-kicking of innocent animals but would have gladly applauded the drop-kicking of the obnoxious human owners!

OMG I would have died. I don't take our dog to the dog park for that reason. It just freaks the hell out of me. I am however LMAO at Tony's responses:)

My dog would have had a heart attack and died. I am convinced of it. My dog is 7 lbs of "scaredy" dog.

I hate mean dogs. Hate them from the bottom of my brain ( because the bottom of my heart is going, "NO NO NO! They can be healed of their nature" but by brains going"nuhhuh"). That being said, I tink the reason pitbulls/bulldogs/rottweilers are mean is because o nurture, not nature. They can be trained to be loving, kind dogs. I say this from experience (we used to live next door to a pitbull at moms house). That also being said, you would have to train them rom early on, because if you dont, they'll be mean anyways.

I win an award, dont I? $20? $200000000? Anything? *WAVING WHITE FLAG* OK, we'll go with $10.

Yea, Here in west Michigan we don't have any public dog parks, but we have one dog park that costs $8 a day. So i bring my very friendly, ready to play, medium sized terrier there to socialize and what happens? She gets rammed by some mangy mutt, bit by a husky, and we were seriously chased out of the damn place by a heard of psycho chihuahuas. I thought maybe I was alone in bad dog-park experiences...at least your park was free though. Oh and you are totally justified with the whole pit bull thing, I totally agree with you. We have a dog beach, and some days all the dogs play well together, and some days some brat of a dog shows up...then we just leave. And just because Lilo is a dog, doesn't mean she is a 'dog person' dog....if that made any sense. Maybe she likes humans better...but try other dog parks, or that park a different day...You never know, she just might find her BFF.

That's so funny because the dog parks here are in the middle of suburbia where literally everyone has a back yard, beautiful walking paths, gorgeous weather, etc. I guess I can see it for socialization, which is why I went. But now that I know what kind of socialization goes on there - geesh - why bother! OMG, I just realized this is my same mentality about public school! hahah. You can take the human out of the homeschooler but you can't take the homeschooler out of the human! Bwahaha

Dog parks weird me out. But then, we have a nice big back yard and I see no point in driving my dogs someplace else to play. And even just the two of them sometimes fight. (which freaks me out and we immediately split them up). I think dog parks are interesting in theory, for people who have no yards, but then maybe they should just get smaller dogs (or cats?!) and then they wouldn't have to worry about it!

I'm dying here, I'm laughing so hard. I *HATE* pitbulls and have firmly believed since, um, forever, that nobody should have one as a pet. I can recall a handful of newspaper articles about pitpulls killing kids and other dogs that I've read over the years. I agree - their breeding makes them aggressive and therefore it's not their fault they have the instict to kill children and dogs.

We don't have many dog parks in AZ, which is unfortunate. I miss southern CA for that reason - we took all of our dogs to dog beach almost every weekend and I loved it. It was so much fun, and everyone had nice dogs. Oh well. Enjoy the people parks!
