Like most, I don't really like the dentist, but I never feared dental issues until Ava came along. She has very little enamel, and the enamel she does have is weak. Her teeth appear to look fine, but they're full of issues and we've spent a butt load of money on countless fillings, 2 extractions and 1 spacer. (we have dental insurance, but still...) She only has 2 adult teeth in so far, but our dentist thinks she will need braces. He said the very earliest he would recommend them is around 12 years old. We haven't spoken to any orthodontists yet, though. Thanks for sharing your experience...I'm taking notes! :) Dalton looks great in his braces!

It is horrible. Awful. I re-schedule my appointment 4 times before I actually go. I need the gas to have my teeth cleaned. Noah turned 2 in January and Zoe is 17 mos. Our dentist says that kids should she a dentist when they are 1. Our doctor says they should go when they are 2. So in either case, I'm overdue on Noah, but possibly OK on Zoe. As an angry teen I often said things like, "My children won't have to get braces. I won't put such a high value on appearences and make them have painful procedures." I resented my parents making that choice for me. I have a dental phobia too, but not as extreme. I have found a really great dentist here (not in your town) whose staff is nurturing and reassuring and kind.
