Starbucks, you did it again
Why, oh why, Starbucks must you constantly add new products to your line that lure me back in right when I’ve finally weaned myself and my pocketbook off of you for good?!?!? Just when I had written off drinks like the Frappacino becuase of its ridiculous empty caloric value and fat levels (not to mention price) and drank myself to death on Passion Tea Lemonades to the point where I am happy to never see one again, now we have the Vivanno.
HATE!!!
LOVE!!!
How can I resist something that tastes so good. Because Chocolate! Banana! And packed with protein and fiber! I tell myself it will replace a meal (and then some because it is really REALLY filling). This three times in as many days. Oh Starbucks, my children will not go to college because of you!

I have never had anything from Starbucks…ever. I have so far resisted all urges, even though one is literally just 60 seconds from my house. Just doing my part to stick it to the man! hee hee.

I’m usually a Coffee Bean girl myself these days, but that sounds so good. I am so hitting up a Starbucks at lunch today. Yum! *It’s useless to resist!*

Nicki, it’s not nice to try to suck us all into the abyss with you! I have been pretty good about resisting these places in, say, the past six months, since while I am in desperate need of the caffeine I also hate dealing with the baby in the car, out, back in, back out routine. But that does sound tasty and I am buried in work today and can use whatever help to finish I can get…

You know, I used to be a full on addict - first it was a short soy latte then it turned into a short soy mocha, no whipped cream. Then we went to Vietnam and I had VNese coffee, both iced and hot, and now Starbucks sucks. I can’t even enjoy it. I had it three mornings in a row while we were in St. Louis, just b/c my husband is an addict and he picked it up, but seriously, I couldn’t care less. So the good thing is that I’ve replaced my one habit with another, but my new habit is sooo not readily available, so my habit is effectively gone!
Helpful? Ha ha ha.

I love Starbucks. And since they are from my hometown, I feel like it’s my duty to keep them in business.
I just heard about that new drink from a barista the other day and she told me to ask for it without the protein because it just adds fat/colories and is really more of a “workout” drink. I haven’t had one yet, just wanted to share my barista’s wisdom.

I don’t think there’s fat in the protein powder but it is really heavy. I rationalize that its good for countering my tendency toward sugar crashes and other pseudo-hypoglycemic lack-of-protein situations. ha.

While that drink doesn’t sound so appealing to me (hate banana, not insane about chocolate), I DID fall in love, yesterday, with the blended lemonade. Oh, so lemony, so good.

Nicki, Hang in another few years and when your oldest son is 16, make sure he gets an after-school job at Starbucks. My nephew did that and his mom didn’t pay for coffee for 2 years until he left for college! Apparently, his branch had a loose “friends and family” policy, I don’t know if they’re all like that. Just an idea - perhaps you can start now with little hints about what a cool job barista is….

Same addiction…we actually took all of our spare change to the Coinstar machines (we removed the quarters) and cashed it in for a Starbucks GC. We had a LOT of change, so we had a GC for about $130 - but now we can go to Starbucks with no guilt whatsoever. (If we wanted cash from Coinstar they’d take a cut, but there was no charge for the gift card.)
It might be one way to supplement the craving…?

Or…maybe they’ll go to college BECAUSE of Starbucks. Maybe it’ll make you THAT productive a parent and homeschool teacher, and then you can credit its deliciousness and energizing properties to making you a more wonderful, sane, productive parent / teacher. Ok, might be a stretch, but I tried. Damn do I have a soft spot for that place. I hate myself for loving it so. My mind’s tellin’ me no, but my body, my body…
