Day 5 or Hit The Wall
Yesterday we all woke up just dragging despite sleeping in. Most of all Addison. She just would not get up or play or talk. She wanted to sit in our laps and suck her thumb and do nothing else. I actually started to worry that she was getting sick or something after a few hours. Then we took her to run errands and get some lunch and she just passed out hard. It was like 10am texas time. Crazy. Thankfully after she woke up she was back to her normal self again.
I wish I could say the same for myself. I felt the same way - just dragging and exhausted. Lunch helped a lot but I really just needed to sleep. Staying up late, not napping on schedule, not sleeping in, sleeping in different beds….it caught up to us all. I thought I’d kill the kids, everyone was just getting on each other’s nerves.
We departed Detroit for up north in the late afternoon and the drive was easy but no one slept. I was soooo exhausted and had to drive because Tony had to work. It was rough but only 3.5 hours.
Despite our best efforts we did not get to sleep early last night here at the cabin. Addy went to sleep just after midnight and I didn’t even get my pajamas on before passing out hard and I slept until 11am today. Whew! I sooo needed that.
On another note, Addy has decided out of the blue that she really only wants me to put her to bed. This is really REALLY great news because the bedtime reliance on daddy has been a huge huge problem. Its only been a few nights but I am hopeful that maybe this is a new trend and Tony will have more freedom to travel or do whatever is needed without worrying about the nighttime parenting. It is just sooooo much easier and more convenient for me to do that job and I’m excited that maybe it’ll get to be my job from now on.
The ears look great although they are red now and probably sore. I went out and got matching earrings on Addy’s request. I never EVER wear earrings. I try maybe once every year or 18 months and hate them and yank them out. I wore them all day yesterday and Addy was so sweet about it, so excited that I matched her. But omg, my lobes were soooo sore at the end of the day. There was no way I was going to sleep in them. I don’t know how people do it. So that’s yesterday. More about today, with pictures later!

I can’t wear earrings for any lenght of time unless they are real gold (or very light ones made of sterling). That probably sounds prissy, but anything else and I get the red, warm lobes that signal an infection coming on. I can wear actual gold indefinitely. Maybe you have some kind of sensitivity to different metals?

Yeah, I was going to suggest trying 14K gold earrings. (You can get them cheap at places like Target.) You probably have a nickel allergy or sensitivity to other metals. Heck, someone I know can only wear 18K gold so you never know! Some people are just more sensitive to non-gold metals than others!

Great news on the bedtime change!
I used to wear earrings all the time but now they hurt when I put them in and it just gets worse the longer I wear them. Weird and sort of depressing… who knew my ears would change with age?!
