Day 7 or Another day in paradise
Yesterday was all about the turtles and the fish. Again. No more pink crown though since Daddy just HAD to practice casting with Addy-Mai’s fishing pole and he lost the pink crown in the great abyss of the lake. So sad.
The morning started out full of excitement when Dalton caught his very first ever walleye. he’s been wanting to catch one since he was 6 - so more than half his life! It was a total victory that he finally hooked the big one! It was super heavy and squirmy and had teeth…see?
With that excitement behind him, he just had to take a nap.
Later he caught this beast. I don’t know what it weighed but it was I think the biggest bass he’s ever caught and it seemed really hefty. Good fishing day, for sure.
And then the turtle came back. It was getting WAY too friendly and we decided it was time to relocate him. This was super exciting because OH THE DANGER!! My Dad took a big ole garden rake and pulled him into shore (not without a struggle - see? EXCITING!) and he was all thrawing and all the kids were all “EEEKS! A SCARY TURTLE” so I had to throw down my camera and help my Dad out. Sheesh. Now we know who the brave one in the family is. We lured him into this big mesh box and had the caretaker come haul him off to a different local lake for a happier human-free life. We were sad to see him go but he would have totally taken off Addy’s hand. Au revoir!
Otherwise it was just another day in paradise! Lots of playing in the sand, splashing in the lake and a few kayak rides with grandma. Ahhh…this is the life.

My husband swears he saw a snapping turtle in our pond a few weeks ago. I just keep telling myself he likes to exaggerate sometimes, becasue OMGosh! I don’t want one of those things in my pond! Thanks for the picture. Now I’m even more paranoid!
Though our neighbor swears they NEVER bit people.

Okay, that turtle is way scary. Seriously, it is HUGE! The picture of Addy with her eyes closed soaking it all up is an all time favorite of mine.

Love the pics of Addy but it is so great to see some of Dalton. He looks so old! I get these pangs sometimes when I look at Lydia and she just seems so grown up and woman-like almost. It’s scary but really cool at the same time.
