Day 19: Shiso Happy!!

Yes I know I’m behind by a few days and I considered trying to catch up but there is just no way I can do that justice. There will be ridiculous pictures and coolness to report. Just not today. I’m sticking with quick and easy today while we all recover. The kids were absolutely exhausted and soooo grumpy today. I have literally never seen Addison as cranky and scowly as she was today, it was almost humorous!

Today we went to Gainesville. We knew we’d leave for home today but had no idea where we’d go. After realizing that anything along our travel route would not result in a hotel big enough to house our big family, we opted for a different route entirely. Gainesville was a whopping 1.75 hour drive - just long enough for every kid to nap and let me say it was WELL needed.

We had big plans that involved alligators, bison and wild horses but it is just too rainy and awful to consider it. There is a huge storm front as well as a hurricane coming closer so rain is as good as it gets. Thankfully every rainy day we have had has been an unimportant car day. Can’t beat that. Unfortunately it looks like we will have SERIOUS hurricane and other storm front rains for the duration of our trip. I hate driving in the rain. Blah.

So instead we just ordered in the best sushi in the entire world and just about died and went to heaven. I can’t even tell you the disgusting diliciousness that was our dinner and dessert. How did I ever live without Sushi? How will I ever be able to eat other sushi again with this insanity to compare it to?

Tomorrow we have a loooong day of driving but we have plans here first. You will NEVER EVER believe what we are doing tomorrow….c’mon just try and guess! Did you guess? Ok I’ll tell you. We are going to a DINOSAUR MUSEUM! I know, crazy right? It’s a sickness. I don’t know if you’ve gathered this about me but I’m rather rigid and inflexible and tend to be control-freaky (as opposed to just plain ole freaky). It takes a lot to get me to deviate from The Plan on vacation. But then we get to a new place and inevitably there is some college with a paleo museum or an awesome paleo exhibit that my boys just can not miss. I think “We may never be back in this area” and then I can’t say no. This time the exhibit is actually a paleo-artist (the dudes who render the illustrations of what dinosaurs MAY HAVE looked like). Interestingly, very recently Teegan has been expressing an interest in learning more about paleo-artistry (his two favorite interests, combined) so it will be cool to see the world’s first and most famous paleo-artist’s work. I know we are geeks, it’s ok.

So only a few days left of this crazy trip. I can honestly say I wish it was much longer. I’m NOT ready to go home, at all. Don’t know about the kids. Addy is having gymnastics withdrawals in a crazy way. i hope that means she’ll not put up a fight about going into her class in a few days.  Meanwhile she just announced “I’m so naked and so nude” which I guess is the cue that she’s ready for bed! haha.
