NaBloPoMo & Stuff

Monday, November 5th, 2007

NaBloPoMoI’m not a cool aspiring novelist like MrsBroccoliGuy or Nicole. I briefly considered doing NaNoWriMo but when I failed on day one, I tossed the whole concept. Last night, though, I stumbled upon NaBloPoMo and wonder why no one told me about this before? Because this? Right up my ally!!!!!!!!

NaBloPoMo, aside from having a way cooler name than NaNoWriMo, is also a lot more attainable for me. It involves blogging daily for the entire month of November. Piece. Of. Cake. Ok so it’s the 5th and I already missed a day but that was before I even KNEW about NaBlo, I am hoping that my multiple posts on Nov 1 made up for it? Do you think?

My challenge for NaBloPoMo is to NOT turn this blog into a daily journal. When I pressure myself to blog daily I tend to end up doing things like writing “Today we went…and the baby did….and I am so tired!”. No one wants to read a boring personal journal. I’d like to blog on a theme, daily, but can not think of a compelling enough theme.

I am open to suggestions. What theme would you actually read about, daily???

Right vs. Left Brained: Which are you?

0569317100.gifAccording to the Herald Sun, which direction you see this dancer turning might signify whether you are a right-brained (creative) thinker or a left-brained (logical) thinker.

I looked at it and seriously I could not possibly have been more sure that there was only one right answer to this test. Clearly she is turning counter-clockwise. I called all three of my kids over and my two oldest kids both agreed it was *definitely* going clockwise. Noah said it kept changing directions!!!

I looked away for a minute and then when I looked back it changed directions. Seriously this is some sort of crazy to me!!!!!!

Apparently most people would see her turning counterclockwise, indicating that you are strongly left brained. If you see her turning clockwise, this indicates that you are right brained.

So which way do you see her spin? And if you see her change directions, does that mean that you are a “balanced” thinker?

I took this other test that was pretty interesting. It showed that I’m not all THAT balanced but pretty close to what I always felt I was:

Left Brain Right Brain
61% 39%

Pretty cool! I wish I could say I was more creative but I’ve always been pretty hard on myself about my lack of creativity. I failed geometry, I can’t decorate to save my life and anything too abstract makes my head spin. But I can follow directions like my life depends on it and there is *always* a to-do list! But I do crave a creative outlet. I’m musically proficient and I love to “create” as long as there is clear directions with pictures!! :-)

Two Memes in One Post

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Stealing the reigns from LawMommy and Nicole, go to Google and search for your name with the word “needs” following it (”Nicki needs”, for instance) and see what you get.

  • Nicki needs a parent: well my Mom did just leave to go back to Michigan. I think what this really means is “Nicki needs a maid, a personal chef and a nanny”. haha
  • Nicki needs someone to talk to: occasionally. I usually hate using the phone but sometimes you can’t get me off of it!
  • Nicki needs something to get her in the mood for some ‘romance’: haha, all I need is my wonderful husband. Or a white russian.
  • Nicki needs help: more than you know
  • Nicki needs a whipping boy: yeah, baby! This is my favorite of all!!

Ok, really, when you have a name like ‘nicki’ most of the responses are not fit for a blog that is rated G.

How do I know my blog is rated G? Well this is a great segue into another meme posted by my friend Robin over at Do you not know what causes that? According to this little website tooly, I only use the word ‘hell’ one time and that makes my site suitable for all audiences. Until today. haha
